Musician Leslie Wai has brought the soundtrack from the superb Sega Megadrive game Ranger-X into the new millennium and posted his results on Youtube:
Check out his other videos too. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m firmly crossing my fingers some talented programming group decide Leslie should compose the soundtrack to a Ranger-X remake (Ranger-osX?). Imagine maybe a Mega-CD hack to run the ROM with Leslie’s music? Tasty.
In a quite simply expected move, Nintendo have released the intro to the Japanese version of their much anticipated Mario Kart Wii.
Those easily pleased by short, fat and stereotypical gameplay need quite literally look no further than the video here, presented by those helpful chappies at Gametrailers.Com:
Though I am on month 9 of my personal Wii embargo, this stimulated areas best left to the imagination.
Mario Kart Wii is optimistically set for a April 25th European release.
Ah, long have we waited, rewarded we are, sweet-as it looks.
Not one, but two new videos to finally get a good look at what this latest SF2 cash-in will look like. Sure it’s the same game under it all with the usual too-long-to-say name but wowee does it look splendid.
What’s even better is that you can participate in the beta program if you buy “Wolf of the Battlefield: Commandos 3″ on XBLA. Nice. A release date is, *sigh*, still no-where to be seen.
A double whammy for emulation news today. It’s been a while since we heared rumblings about this but finally, it looks like the Sega Naomi code is starting to do MAMEdev’s bidding.
Of course once it is released the only guys capable of using it will be those sitting at HECToR’s helm..
That’s right, we can finally close the book on Genesis/Megadrive hardware, it’s all present and correct.
While only used on one game, Virtua Racing, the SVP chip was the last thing to be emulated for completeness’ sake. It’s not been done previously because (apparently) Sega lost all documentation for the SVP. It wouldn’t suprise me however, since I’m told the Genesis/Megadrive could have handled what this stupid chip did anyway. Yey Sega.
Get hold of this technical wonder and all it’s reverse engineered steamy wantness, here.
It’s been 10 years since GM left the UK airwaves, yet still to this day, remains the best gaming show ever. Period.
Dominik Diamond refuses to revisit the past and why would he after the superb but badly timed When Games Attack was cancelled?
Never the less, Games Master Live still stands today and represents a community that lives GM and the period that made gamers what they are today. Not only that, but it also offers exclusive interviews with the cast and crew of Games Master plus downloads of all currently found episodes of the show we called our bread and butter growing up in the 1990’s.
Dom Diamond’s ill-fated WGA is also available for download in it’s one-season-ness, plus ITV’s Bad Influence and a host of other retro video viewing.
Catch up with the only forum to be visited by Dom himself, here.
So you think you’re a fan of SMB? Check this guy out; Keith Lam has created a concept of the first Super Mario Bros game’s first level in a physical scrolling demo, just to show what could be done with enough time and thought. While Keith isn’t professing to be Miyamoto’s sucessor, he certainly has invested enough time to aspire to his ideals.
Too much time on his hands or certified genius? Take a look at the video and decide for yourself:
Independent graphic artist BluezPS has created a concept for PSP MkII which has taken the online community by storm, however it remains undecided.. is this practical or mere eye candy? Check the full gallery here.
While this statement seemed to indicate the various issues surrounding Xbox LIVE had been resolved, a few games of UMK3 and SF2 on XBLA prove the service is still not running as it should with games going apeshit at the drop of a hat.
I would understand if Nintendo, a company green to online gaming were the source of our dismay, but no, it’s only one of the richest companies in the world who made their fortune in I.T. The very same area we’d expect them to be able to work best in.
Get it together Microsoft, those new gamers your just sold your memberships to are going to start waging war!
So who’s with me?
*UPDATE*
A group of Texan gamers it seems have got together and are filing a law suit against Microsoft for breach of contract over the outages and intermittent service.
Can’t say I didn’t warn you MS!
Thanks to Kotaku for the news and here’s the article from the Seattle Times.
